Data, Narrative, and the Space Between What’s Measured and Felt

The Story Axis is a data-driven narrative project that explores life, culture, place, and society in a more layered, nuanced way. It’s for people who want to think deeply and critically.

What are the ideas and beliefs we take for granted as truth? Would we still hold them if we dug a little deeper?

Here, I use data storytelling to explore topics ranging from migration patterns, to the lived experience of economic change, to how traditions and holidays evolve over time. The goal is to spark curiosity, build data literacy, encourage critical thinking, and craft compelling narratives that move beyond headlines.

How do data — or the absence of it — shape our understanding? When does lived experience complicate the numbers? And when does experience alone fall short? Each essay blends personal perspective with broader context, using data as a tool for inquiry rather than certainty.

The goal isn’t certainty, but curiosity: asking better questions, challenging assumptions, and learning how to sit with complexity.

This is a space for curious minds, data lovers, and anyone interested in stories that don’t rest on feeling alone, and numbers that aren’t just taken at face value. It’s also for people who want to learn how to thoughtfully integrate data into narrative.
